Celestial Star QAL - top DONE

Phew!  It's SUCH a good feeling to have all of my Celestial Star blocks done.  I was more than a little obsessed with them over the last month or so!

I'm also REALLY going to miss them!  I had a great time with this pattern and this fabric.  I loved the paper piecing process and watching these come together.  (I still hated the cutting...)

If you want to make one of these yourself, please go visit From Blank Pages!

After asking for (and receiving) some great feedback on layout, I decided to stick with my gut and went with the original layout.  Here's what the quilt top will look like.  I love it!

I can't decide which one I like best.  Every time I look at them, I choose a new favorite.  If I were forced to pick only one, I think I would go with one of the "flower" designs - 1 or 10.  But I also really love some of the others...  so hard to pick just one.

I thought I'd share some close-ups of all the blocks for anyone interested.  Have fun scrolling!

I had a couple of "extra" blocks too...  one of them I made and loved the design, but it bugs me (a lot...  OCD much...) that it's crooked.  The other one I like, but I couldn't decide on a last design to make for block number 13...  so I made 2 with plans to use the extra blocks in the quilt back.  I'm also going to include some simple little pieced rows of all the fabrics used.  I can't wait to get this quilt finished up so we can use it to cuddle under during the Ohio State football games this season!

Here are the blocks for the back.

I hope you enjoyed them!  Which is YOUR favorite???

  2. Your blocks are beautiful! I hope I can save them all on pinterest or Instagram to have more ideas. I have one block left to finish(of only four), but I think I would like to make this again. If I can stand to do all the cutting again, that is! LOL Did you link up with Instagram too? I need to finish that last block and get busy on this!

    1. Hi Cindy! Thanks so much for your comment. I do have my blocks on Instagram, but not in individual pictures like this. I'm not on pinterest. I'd love to see your completed blocks! I'll be on the lookout for them. :)

  3. Kara, I have just looked through your blocks - they are brilliant!! I keep looking to decide which is my favorite, but I don't seem to be able to choose. I am so impressed that you got so many done. I just began yesterday - always late to the party, I know! - and decided to do an 18" single block for an autumnal wall-hanging. I got 1/4 done last night, will make a few tweaks to it today, and get going on the other sections. Anyway - I wanted to thank you for being such a speedy producer and for sharing your gorgeous work!!

    1. Thank you Liz! I really appreciate your note. I can't decide on a favorite either! These were really fun to make. I did the 18" version too. I'm glad I didn't go smaller because that center seam about killed me. Can't wait to see your wall hanging!
