Picture of the Week - 1/24/2019

So we are totally smitten with this new puppy of ours.  He is SO cool!

There have been, of course, puppy challenges.  Our rug scrubber has gotten a good workout over the last couple of weeks...

But Brutus is SO CHILL!  He's laid back and cuddly and pretty darn adorable.  He hasn't been a big chewer so far, but has a strong affinity to gnawing on soft stuff - like towels and socks.  Don't leave socks out near him...  he will definitely steal them!

I can't wait for the weather to get a bit nicer/warmer so we can take him to the park.  Of course, lacrosse season starts in 10 days, so park time is COMING SOON regardless of the weather!

Here are a couple of recent pictures of Brutus.  Too cute!

This weekend the West varsity wrestling team is heading to an individual tournament.  I get to take them and spend the day watching some cool guys wrestle on Saturday and then on Sunday Zane and Beckett are in a tournament too.  It's a wrestling kinda weekend!

Side note - we are in the middle of another transition between sports.  High school lacrosse started this week.  Wrestling has at least 3 weeks left.  It's just plain hard during the transitions.  We'll get through it... but it's not easy for these boys who are multi-sport at ALL!

Picture of the Week - 1/10/2019

I saw this sign on the side of a pub on the way home from class tonight.  I loved the first 2 lines.  I have no idea what the ENTIRE middle part mean.  LOL  It's Gaelic - I think...

But the first bit
"Mey the best ye hae iver seen
Be the worst ye'll ever see"

is a pretty good thought don't you think?  Essentially I wish for you that the best is yet to come.

And that's what I'm taking from today - that the best is yet to come and all the experiences of yesterday and today (figuratively) are preparing us all for the days ahead.

Cheers to that!

PS - I'm back home on Sunday - wish the boys luck on Saturday as they have Regional Duals.  If they place 1st or 2nd, they get to go to state.  If you are local and want to see them wrestle, this would be a great event to attend!

Ya'll - I am in a F U N K!

I don't wanna be in a funk, but I'm in one.  Bad combination of not feeling great, jet lag, work crud, and trying to keep up with wrestling schedules and puppy schedules.  I just had a bunch of time off work - I really shouldn't need a vacation, but that doesn't mean I don't want one.

This too shall pass...

Here're a couple of fun pictures.  Beckett and Brutus in the sunshine - which has been hard to find during these dreary, rainy days.  The second picture is the moment that the wrestling team realized they were going to win the regional duals title.  West Forsyth has never won Regional Duals before.  It was a big deal.  :)  They are down in Macon wrestling today and tomorrow, possibly Saturday.  They won their first dual match and go again (against a pretty tough competitor) at 6:00.  I'm home with dogs and Zane and Beck.  It's raining again.  We'll survive and hopefully have a nice showing down in Macon to celebrate on Saturday night.

Picture of the Week - 1/3/2019

Happy New Year!!

I hope you all had a delightful holiday season and are well-rested and ready to have a GREAT 2019!!

We had a really great couple of weeks!  It was not super restful, but it was filled with fun stuff and good memories.

In the last week we have wrapped up another wrestling tournament and settled into life with a puppy.  Things are, honestly, much better with Brutus than we expected.  Yes, he's had accidents in the house.  And yes, he's caused lack of sleep and extra trips up and down the stairs, but he's melded right into life at the Bovenizer house like he was born to be here.  Yay!  Here's a sweet picture of Beck with Brutus from tonight.  I swear this is the most mellow puppy I've ever been around.  I love his calm demeanor!  (And hoping that the chaos around here doesn't run off on him!)

We did have one not-so-nice experience on Monday.  Spencer and Quinn were in a wee accident with the Jeep.  It was rainy (because it's rained SOOOOOO much this year...) and they just slid off the road.  I'd assume they were going too fast, but I have an app on Spencer's phone that assures me they weren't really going that fast.  It was a fluke...  unfortunately they hit a road sign and messed up the hood of the Jeep.  It's funny though...  they are looking at this as the equivalent of "chicks dig scars" and think it gives the Jeep some character.  Boys...  I'm incredibly thankful that they weren't hurt (at all) and that there was no one else involved.  It's a relatively painless way to learn a valuable lesson about driving and how vulnerable you can be behind the steering wheel.

This weekend we have more wrestling - times 4...  the boys are gearing up for regional duals next weekend.  I have my fingers crossed that the team is peaking at the right time!

Unfortunately, I'll miss regional duals because I'm heading back to Scotland on Tuesday for an MBA trip to learn about quantitative decision making.  (Finally a class with math and ACTUAL right/wrong answers!!!)

I'm off for more puppy cuddles!
