Picture of the Week - 1/27/2022

Well...  it's safe to say that I've been an emotional mess all week.  Having a senior is really hard on us moms.  Check in with the moms of seniors in your circle. We aren't always OK...

Quinn's wrestling career is over.  I'm not sad about *that* (see FB post from this week for my thoughts on that topic) but it is the beginning of the ends for him and I can't get that out of my head.  I will really miss him when he leaves.  And that's all I can write about that at the moment because I don't feel like more tears this week.

In other news...

Spencer is in quarantine jail this week.  His roommate tested positive (with no symptoms) so Spencer had to move out of the barracks and into short term housing for the week.  He is by himself 95% of the time and bored out of his mind.  He can't attend classes.  He can't go to workouts.  He's going to miss a wrestling tournament he was supposed to go to on Saturday.  Covid can suck it...  I'm over it.  (Spencer is not sick, shows no symptoms, is 100% fine.)

Zane and Beck had well-child visits today.  It was mostly uneventful - although we did have a nice conversation about the ring worm on Zane's face.  #wrestlerproblems  It's treated (with an Rx from Quinn) and I talked the doctor into a refill for future use.  #winning

For reference...  Zane is 12 and is 62.2 inches (officially taller than me) and 120 lbs.  Beck is 10 and 58.2 inches and 107 lbs.  Of note (and all the bragging associated) Beck's stats are bigger in both height and weight than Spencer was at 10 years old.  It's going to be so fun to watch these guys turn into men.  And I admit, it lessens the Quinn-is-a-senior pain a wee bit.  A teeny bit...

This weekend, since we have no wrestling, Bob and I are going to do something we've wanted to do for a long time.  We are heading to an RV show!  LOL laugh if you must, we are excited!  We know very little about RVs, so this is a learning excursion - with pizza.

Then Bob is TRAVELING.  Oy...  that just doesn't happen.  He's heading to Arizona for work for the week.  I get the boys and dogs all to myself next week - and we get to celebrate Quinn's upcoming birthday on Wednesday - and then again when Bob gets home.  It will be a fun week of celebrating Quinn!

And I'm going to try to do a better job next week of ignoring that Quinn's time here is coming to an end than I did this week!  Because my emotions can't take another week like this one...

Much love - and stay warm.  It's gonna be freezing this weekend!

Picture of the Week - 1/21/2022

 Lotsa stuff happening!

Zane got his second round of orthodontics started this week.  He was excited - and then remembered that it's not super fun...  He also got some weird skin funk that the dermatologist tested and has no real answers.  Don't ya just love "idiopathic"???

Spencer is doing Spencer things and seems fine.  I think he may be going to a tournament this weekend, but the details, as always, are a bit limited.  So...  we'll just wait and see what's reported.  Ahhh the joys of the ever loosening ties to home.

Beck is chugging along and going with the flow.  Nothing super new with him.  He did win 3rd place last weekend in a wrestling tournament and looked really good.  Probably the best we've seen him wrestle.  I think (just maybe) he's hitting some maturation - on the mat and in the classroom.

And Quinn - his wrestling team is going BACK to STATE tomorrow for the 5th straight year.  They have tough competition in front of them.  It's pretty weird to think that his days of wrestling are quickly coming to an end.  He isn't interested in wrestling in college.  Maybe someday he will do some training or help coach a brother or something, but his competition matches are VERY numbered.  After this weekend (where he will have at most 3 matches) we move into individual regional, sectional and state tournaments.  He's got - at most - 4 weekends of wrestling left.  That's kind of a gut punch - and yet also 100% expected as we march through all these senior "things" again with Quinn.

Here's a picture of me and Bob from our date night last night.  I don't take/share many pictures of us so I thought this would be fun.

Picture of the Week - 1/13/2022

The weather forecasters are saying we might get SNOW on Saturday night.  It's all anyone can talk about!  The boys are so excited!  I'm pretty excited too!  The timing of the storm means that we will all be safe and sound in the house when the rain/snow/sleet/freezing rain/whatever we get hits, so we can just sit back and relax.  It's going to happen after all our events on Saturday, so nothing will get messed up or rearranged.  And worst case scenario for Saturday night/Sunday morning icy roads is that we will have church moved online, which means service in jammies and no waumbaland volunteer time.  There are worse things than looking at some potential snow on a Saturday night in Georgia!!

But before we get to that...  we have some wrestling to do!

Quinn's high school team is heading to a state duals preliminary qualifier after placing 2nd last weekend at regions.  We need to win this qualifier to make it to state the following weekend.  I'm excited to see what this team can do.  Quinn has dropped a weight class (which lots of the kids do this time of year) and will be wrestling the 132 spot this weekend.  Stay tuned!

Zane and Beck are also wrestling on Saturday and it's been a long time since I've seen them both so excited for a tournament.  Should be a good one up in Dawsonville.

Here's a fun picture of my FOUR BOYS together last weekend at Quinn's tournament.  I love this picture.  A lot.  :)  My dudes.

Spencer is back in Charleston now and tackling his spring semester.  In case anyone was curious, he earned a 3.7 for Fall semester in Civil Engineering - while wrestling and dealing with being a Knob at a military school.  My boys all rocked their grades in the first half of this year...  Quinn got a 3.6, Zane got all As, and Beck doesn't really have letter grades yet, but he's not having any issues.  Proud mom stuff...

Picture of the Week - 1/6/2022

Well...  we bid a fond farewell to all the holiday fun and have smacked right back into the world of real life this week.  Ooophhh...  re-entry has been exhausting!

News and updates
- Beckett got to compete last weekend at a little tournament just for kiddos 10 and under at our wrestling studio/gym/club (never really sure what to call it...)  He was one of the only 10 year olds there - and was in the biggest weight class they had.  It's just funny to see our BABY BUCKY be the "big kid" in the room.  He won and earned himself a sweet "champion" singlet.  He was very proud and there was an appropriate amount of envy amongst the brothers to make it a great day!

- Quinn, Zane and Beck are back to school as of today, but it's remote.  Covid numbers are kinda outta control right now, so who knows where this will go.  As of now, they are supposed to go back to face to face school on Monday, but honestly, I'm not holding my breathe

- Spencer's furlough comes to an end this weekend and he heads back to Charleston to report on Sunday.

- Before he left, he got the windows on his car tinted, which makes it look even cooler than it did before.  If you sent him cash for Christmas, it was put to good use.

- This weekend we tackle Region Duals with the West wrestling team.  This starts the march toward state...  6 weeks to go and then high school wrestling will be over for us.  (But only for a few years!)

Stay warm, and safe, and healthy everyone!  2022 is starting off pretty weird...
