Picture of the Week - 4/25/2019

Greetings from London!

Today was a packed day full of content and catching up with co-workers I don’t see in person very often. (A hazard working for a company equally divided between US and UK.)

We ended the evening with a really cool experience getting to tour the Tower of London after it had closed to all other tourist - after a Thames river boat ride/tour.  How many people can say they drank champagne in the Whote Tower (built in 1080)?  Neat stuff. Here are just a few pictures of the evening.

Tomorrow - more learning, visiting, and fun - capped off with a black tie event at a venue to be disclosed tomorrow.

Picture of the Week - 4/18/2019

Happy Thursday!

I noticed something the other day that was one of those things that could easily have slipped by without comment.  I easily could have missed it - not even noticed until it was so far done that I couldn't remember the "before".

I noticed that Zane's face is changing.  Like he's CHANGING from the little boy I've grown so accustomed to and BECOMING an older version of himself.  His cheekbones are becoming more pronounced.  He's getting more angular.  I know from experience that this is the prep for all the really big changes coming over the next couple of years.  I know that the little boy is in the rear view mirror.

What a sucker punch!

Figured I should take (and share) some pictures of my little boys now before they look like grown men.  I will attempt to get some pictures of the big guys this weekend.  Bonus points if that includes pictures with bunny ears on!  (Also - can't go a week without a new Brutus picture...  I might be a little bit obsessed with that dog...)

Newsie stuff
- Quinn got his Driver's Permit.  He wasn't in as big a hurry for it as Spencer was, but he's got it now and we get to start the process of teaching him to drive.  (related...  I'm just going to start signing over my paycheck to car insurance now...)
- The high school lacrosse season is over for the year.  It was...  unfulfilling...  I think it's very likely that both my high school boys do something different next spring.  It's a shame.  Really...  but after watching and listening and experience this season, I don't blame them.
- Zane and Beck have a game this weekend and then 2 games next weekend and they are done too.  CRAZY how fast the lacrosse season went this year!
- I'm leaving next Tuesday for an extended trip away.  It's going to be pretty fun, but also really LONG.  I know I'll miss home like crazy and I'm definitely dreading that part of it.  I'm also thankful for the opportunity to go do this - London and Dubai - and want to try to do the whole "living in the present" thing while I'm there so I can take it all in.

Happy early Easter everyone!  Now's your chance to eat all the chocolate and jelly beans you want!

Picture of the Week - 4/11/2019

Hi everyone!  I'm BACK!  Wait - did anyone miss me?  Did anyone (other than my mom) even notice that I the POTW never made it out last week?  Anyone out there???

I had a travel day last Thursday and, if I'm being honest, forgot about the weekly email until I got home - at which point I was both exhausted and facing a lack of content.  So...  I skipped it!  I feel so liberated.  LOL

This week, you get a bunch of Brutus pictures because he's cute and I take too many picture of him and all my boys need haircuts.

We have had an interesting week...  Bob's been out of town for a few days, which he hardly ever does (and never during the week).  I'm always reminded that I am clearly a sub-standard house-maintenance partner when he's away because there's SO MUCH to do and I hardly ever do it...  He's back tonight.  Thank goodness!

Our logistics were complicated by 1) a puppy and 2) a series of all-day meetings at the office that I couldn't miss.  Thank goodness for grandparents who are willing to let out the dogs and grab the boys off the bus!

Last night was a particularly interesting evening as I went straight from the office to Quinn's lacrosse game (which they won) and on the way home got all the texts from Spencer (who chose to stay home) about the spider nest he exploded into my garage (think floating spiders from Charlotte's Web) and the home made flame thrower he made to take care of the situation.  Someday, after I clean up the spider carcasses, it'll make a funny story...  I suppose I'm glad he didn't burn down my house!  (He says he was safe because he chose to use carb cleaner as the flame thrower fuel - which is apparently mostly isopropyl alcohol which apparently burns cooler than wood...)

Teenage boys are simultaneously creative, self-sufficient and crazy.

And now I'm going back to taking pictures of the dog...
