Picture of the Week - 5/26/2022

May-madness is almost over...  the end of the hustle is SOOOO close!

In the past week...
- Zane played in the Black and White game.  He played center for the whole game.  He was consistent and reliable and steady.  He's not flashy, but he is a really good football player.  I really do love watching him play.
- Visited with Sharon and Karen who came down to visit from Ohio for the festivities
- Held Quinn's graduation party where we entertained a LOT of people.  My heart is truly so happy to see all the friends and family who came to wish Quinn well.  He's just such a good, likeable dude.  Celebrating him was fun - and easy! - and also a little exhausting!
- More dinner party fun with Berber and Pappy and Jess and her family to celebrate the graduates!
- Actual graduation ceremony on Sunday and dinner (out again... who wants to cook in May???)
- Then we found out on Monday that Zane made the football team - woohoo!  I'm so happy for him - and he's SO excited about it!!
- Tuesday happened to be our 25th wedding anniversary - and we used it as an opportunity to visit one of our favorite restaurants with some great friends
- Wednesday we had a football meeting for all the players and families that made the team to pay dues and get fitted for gear and such.  We also found out that Zane will get to continue the tradition of a Bovenizer wearing #59.  The coaches know and remember Spencer - and asked if Zane wanted to be the same number.  I love that so much.
- And then here we are back to Thursday - the last day of the 2021-22 school year.

I would say we are doing a pretty darn good job of filling our days up with fun stuff!  This doesn't mean we aren't simultaneously saddened by the tragedy of the Texas school shooting.  That evil weighs heavy - but is also a good reminder not to take any of these crazy, jam-packed, family-centered days for granted.  You just never know...

Tomorrow we will try to get through the last workday before heading to the Carolina coast for vacation.  I can't wait!

Picture of the Week - 2/10/2022

delayed POTW this week because, well...  Thursday has turned into our date night and I love it!  Who needs Valentine's Day when you can have a weekly date night while your kids are at practice!  :)

Here are a couple of fun pictures from tonight.  The youth wrestling team was at practice when the high school guys heading to state left the school, so they got to do a program "send off".  I love that!  We have been involved with this program for the last 5 years and it has given us some really wonderful moments and memories.  (While turning my boys into men...)  We have 8 more years to go...  can't wait to see what's next!

The second picture is Beckett and Matthew.  Matthew is the son of one of our good friends and happens to also be Beckett's small group leader at church.  We live in a big city, but it sometimes feels exactly like the small town I grew up in.  I love this!

This weekend is a big wrestling weekend for us.  Zane and Beckett have a tournament on Sunday and I get to go see Spencer wrestle in Newberry, SC.  I'm taking Berber with me too!  Roadtrip wrasslin' - gotta love it!

OK - off to get kids and bed and such...  happy Thursday!!!

Picture of the Week - 1/21/2022

 Lotsa stuff happening!

Zane got his second round of orthodontics started this week.  He was excited - and then remembered that it's not super fun...  He also got some weird skin funk that the dermatologist tested and has no real answers.  Don't ya just love "idiopathic"???

Spencer is doing Spencer things and seems fine.  I think he may be going to a tournament this weekend, but the details, as always, are a bit limited.  So...  we'll just wait and see what's reported.  Ahhh the joys of the ever loosening ties to home.

Beck is chugging along and going with the flow.  Nothing super new with him.  He did win 3rd place last weekend in a wrestling tournament and looked really good.  Probably the best we've seen him wrestle.  I think (just maybe) he's hitting some maturation - on the mat and in the classroom.

And Quinn - his wrestling team is going BACK to STATE tomorrow for the 5th straight year.  They have tough competition in front of them.  It's pretty weird to think that his days of wrestling are quickly coming to an end.  He isn't interested in wrestling in college.  Maybe someday he will do some training or help coach a brother or something, but his competition matches are VERY numbered.  After this weekend (where he will have at most 3 matches) we move into individual regional, sectional and state tournaments.  He's got - at most - 4 weekends of wrestling left.  That's kind of a gut punch - and yet also 100% expected as we march through all these senior "things" again with Quinn.

Here's a picture of me and Bob from our date night last night.  I don't take/share many pictures of us so I thought this would be fun.
